I did a series of drawings for Emery's latest CD, In Shallow Seas We Sail:

This was my second time working with the band; I had done the cover of Emery's previous release, an EP (While Broken Hearts Prevail). They've been terrific to work with. For the above CD packaging, the band had a specific storyline in mind, and asked me to illustrate it. I worked closely with their record label's designer -- a nice guy to collaborate with -- to put it all together. All in all a great experience. And look, they even put one of my lovely watercolour washes to good use. I love making those watercolour washes.

I'm not the most articulate person in the world but here goes:
When I found out the release date of Emery's new album, I was beyond elated. So you can imagine how excited I was when they finally released the look of the album. Your work is brilliant and I am so happy that you were chosen to design for them. You work is different than most you see out there these days, going back to simpler roots, but with a twist of artistic sarcasm, which is something I like to put forth in my own work. You are definitely someone I look up too, and aspire to one day be as brilliant as.
Hope that doesn't sound lame, and please ignore the fact I ended the previous sentence with a preposition, like i said, writing is not a strong point.
Keep up with the amazing work, I look forward to seeing it in more places :)

I saw an advertisement for this CD in the AP magazine I got and instantly thought, "Man, this looks so much like Marc Johns' drawings!" Then I went on this site to check some stuff out, and see this post about it. I feel like I'm psychic. Or just a really big fan of your art.
