red made-up sea creature | drawing available SOLD
My 5-year-old is obsessed with squids and other strange and gross ocean beasts. After reading countless library books with him, the bizarre aesthetics of undersea creatures began to rub off on me. You could pretty much draw any sort of ridiculous looking beast, and it probably exists somewhere in the dark recesses of the ocean. The ones I drew here are rather simple in their design in comparison to actual sea life. Both drawings are ink and watercolour on paper, 5x7 inches.
The original drawing is sold. Check for other available drawings and prints.

Has your kid read any of Ricky Gervais's Flanimals books? There's one called Flanimals of the Deep, even!

Your kid and I share a connection, then. I am weirdly intrigued by jellyfish, squid, and the like. This will make the list of potential tattoos to get in the future, haha.

Hi Katie, I'd never heard of Ricky Gervais' Flanimals until now. Thanks for the tip! They are terrific.
Hi Sam, these would indeed make for intriguing tattoos :) We took the kids to the Royal BC Museum here in Victoria last weekend and came across a real (dead, preserved) squid in a display case, and our 5-year-old just about lost his mind.

Hi... those are really fun.. I remember when I first tried to get my stepson to eat fried calamari... after that he obsessed over squids for over a month...
